I am having trouble setting up online bill pay with capitalone for my cell phone bill with AT&T. When I entered my account number and the name of the company(AT&T) it give me a list of multiple AT&T choice and I’m not sure which one to pick. Can anyone help?

Why not set up bill pay with AT&T to pay from your Capital One account?

This is way I have my auto bill pay with AT&T and my Chase account.

This.

Or, even better, set it up to go to your credit card and get some points and a 30 day float for free.

I used to have auto pay through AT&T but now I want to do it through Capitalone because I can get points for paying bills online through them. I don't have my credit card through capitalone. What this 30 day free float you talk of?

First off, I would never let a company take money out of my account with the exception of my mortgage. Second, what is so hard about the options? I just looked at it and basically you have to pick the state you are in. If you are in LA, then it would be Bellsouth as all of the other options have a state in parenthesis. Or you could just click Add Payeee manually and type their contract information and be done with it

I will never allow a company to automatically debit "their amount" out of my account. No way, no how.

The time between when your CC account is charged and when you are required to pay it off.

You can probably get better rewards through a CC, just saying.

Well if they have access to your accounts to do it for your mortgage whets the difference if they do one transaction or 20 they still have access to your account and if you don't trust your bank then you shouldn't bank with them. Well as far as why I didn't know which one to pick is because Louisiana is not on there you are correct but as far as the BellSouth thing I have never seen on my bill or anywhere that AT&T cell phone service and BellSouth were the same, If it were to say Cingular then I would agree. I was going to go with the manual option but what address to you put in there are hundreds of AT&T location. But thanks for your input. Any one else got any ideas or knows the answer?

I trust my mortgage company with my static monthly payment. I do not trust AT&T as I have had things added to my bill for the hell of it. Big difference. Also because I don't want to be late on my mortgage, so I make it their responsibility. I have no trust issues with Cap One.

Bellsouth = Cingular = AT&T

How about you look at your bill and look at the addresss on the return envelop and use that one? Just a thought.

I think I answered every question you had. What else do you want to know?

I have a CC dedicated solely to automatic bill paying and internet shopping. I keep a pretty low limit on it, so that if there ever is a problem with it, they don't rob me blind.

NEVER use your debit card for internet purchases.

Most companies will send you the bill for the month electronically of your total charges to be billed way in advance. So, if I want to see if there is a bogus charge or a mistake on their end before paying, I can easily cancel the auto-pay feature for that month until I get it squared away. I've never had to do that though.
