I am working at academy in Lafayette where Hartley is coming sign autographs. It starts at 6pm, there is over 100 people here and some even spent the night in the parking lot. It's crazy

Oh how I'd love to meet these people. I hope none of them are

a) male
b) over 16
c) wearing a Hartley jersey

How'd Hartley get so big all of a sudden? Don't get me wrong he made plays at key times, and I'm not hating at all, but for a kicker they were fairly ordinary plays. I think Morestead is more deserving of the fan worship than Hartley (although they are both deserving).

I agree that's why I was kind of surprised he would only sign 200. Shouldn't he be happy to have this many people here to meet him and want to sign as many as possible.

If he is only there to sign 200 do it by age. F that whoever waited the longest. Let the young kids go first

30 year old autograph hounds have ruined this shite for everyone else.

dude nails 4 of the most crucial kicks of his career on the biggest stages. yea he should make those considering he is the kicker but there are alot of nfl kickers who would have missed at least 1 of those kicks

You guys have lost your marbles. The game winner in the NFC Champ game, and a record breaking 3 FG's from outside 40 yards is pretty damn good. Moorsted had a hell uv a year and SB.

True they were just 40-something yard field goals, but:

- one of them sent the Saints to the Super Bowl with a game-winning overtime kick (he either has ice water in his veins or is just too young to know the gravity of the situation)

- set a Super Bowl record. No one in Super Bowl history hit 3 field goals of 44 yrads or more. Not bad for a rookie.

I will say this: the kid shouldn't ever have any problems kicking in clutch situations. It will never be more intense than those were, and he rocked them thru with ease. Huge confidence builder that should probably launch a solid long kicking career.

But that's not why he's popular. It's the emo hair. Teen chicks dig that shite nowadays.

Yeh-I have to agree (I don't want his autograph though).
He made the biggest kick in his team's 43 year history to send them to the SB and also set a SB record.
He did more for the Saints in one season than Morten Andersen did in in his whole career.

I'm not saying it's not, but it seems to me that he's been elevated almost to 3b right behind Porter. I just feel other worthy players like Morestead and Vilma aren't getting as much recognition as they deserve and Hartley's getting a little more and I'm trying to figure out why that's the case for a guy so many people were ready to cut after only his 2nd miss as a Saint (1st that he was realistically expected to make). And maybe that's the answer, people feeling guilty for overreacting are now overcompensating.
