...the one that intrigues me most is Aaron Kampman. While Peppers may possess superior talent, he will come at a hefty price. Plust the uncertaintly of the 2011 season really makes him an unlikely signing IMO. However, Kampman is younger and more versatile. He can play DE at a high level and also OLB. I know he is coming off an ACL surgery but we have had really good luck picking up guys on the cheap specifically because they are coming off surgeries. And while an ACL is still considered a 2-year surgery before a player is back to 100%, I think he would be a solid long term move. The dude can flat out get after the QB as a speed rusher and would complement Will Smith's power rushing style on the other side.

I have been reading tons about all the love for Julius Peppers and I thought I would throw out my 2 cents regarding my desire for us to sign Kampman.

We won't lose anyone equal in value to him, so it's pointless to even think about.

He's in his early 30s and is coming off of a major surgery. I don't think he's going to really break the bank and if we do lose Sharper (which I doubt) he may only have to take a little less than he could get elsewhere to be a pretty big difference maker on a contender. I don't think he's worth the risk of a long term contract, but he may be interested in a one year "prove it" deal to get a better offer in 2011's offseason.

While an ACL surgery may be considered major, it is one from which most players come back all the way to 100% nowadays. So I don't think there is much risk.
