What's the deal? Are the players young or are there no players? I know Van can coach...

looks like they've lost a few close games probably due to youth and inexperience. i really have no clue though

I think all the starters were back from last year. Van was a good coach when he was at Ole Miss, not a great coach. Never sniffed a final four in 20+ years at Ole Miss.

The SEC is usually more competitive than the WNBA and probably has about the same amount of teams.

yeah they've lost in most of the scores I've seen. I watched the last 3 minutes of regulation against Auburn.

Van may not have been the best hire. Probably should have gone with a younger woman like Chatman again. (save the jokes).

Van was the "safe" hire. Experienced head coach, likeable, white, straight, man.

I have seen most gameS,i know Van can coach. But thiS team seems poorly coach. They play lazy with no fire Van never seems to get mad. Watching Georgia coach Landers he was in there face and they came back and kick our arse. They have plenty of talent they were pick to win the SEC.I think it is a very poor coaching job.

it usually seems we don't have much in the way of shooters especially from 3. Hightower is ok but not great...

i went to the tennessee game and know they were the dogs but they took the lead with about 7 mins left before tennessee absolutely dominated don't know much about the players but in that game we were dominated in the post and only player that lsu looked to to shot was hightower and majority of those were running one hand floaters not what i would think was a high percentage shot but the days of augustus and fowles are definantly behind us for now hopefully we have a good recruiting class much like what it looks like the guys are putting together

You can have the best athletes and the best coach, but the most important is the team chemistry. If they are not playing as a team, the individual abilities are diminished. Sometimes a coach can do all the right things in practice and during in-game decisions but if the players on the floor do not mesh, it is sometimes very disappointing. They are somewhat young as shown by the hot-cold game to game and in game performance. The chemistry just needs to develope

van is one cool guy. The women's hoops team could never win another game and I'd still want him here

My sense has been that the Lady Tigers just do not have the talent that they have had in recent years. There is Hightower and Barrett, both of whom are fine players, but after that there is a big dropoff.

In watching the Ole Miss game, I was impressed with some players who hadn't shown a great deal prior to that game. It will be interesting to see if they can step up more consistently. I certainly hope so. If Hightower and Barrett continue to play well and can get some consistent help from others, LSU could be dangerous. They might be able to sneak up on some teams in the SEC tournament and the NCAAs.

I think it's a combination of two things..........

1. A team of mostly freshmen and sophomores

2. A poor coaching job.

This team is talented. These sophomores were part of the 3rd ranked recruiting class in the nation their freshman year. There's talent all over this roster. However, we're still playing a bunch of freshmen and sophomores, save for Hightower and Graham. What I see more than anything is INCONSISTENCY from game to game. Some games they play great defense and horrible offense. Other games they play good offense and bad defense. It's possible that they could still rattle off a winning streak at here in the second half of the SEC season, but Van and his staff need to figure out how to create easy scores for this team. They don't have enough offense in the post to play a half court game against big teams but, they have a HUGE quickness advantage against those type teams.

We'll see what happens. I'm not panicking yet. But, if this team plays the same way NEXT year, it may be time to start looking for a new coach.
