Here are some stats that show just how dominant Jabari Greer is and how vital he is to the defense. People who follow the team closely realize his impact, but these #'s really tell the tale. Some in the national media are starting to catch on (Peter King, Pat Y), but most still have no idea just how good this guy has been.

In the playoffs, Greer has been thrown on 12 times. He has given up 6 receptions for a grand total of 41 yards, 6 yac and a long of 17 yds. Porter has been thrown on 17 times, while giving up 13 catches for a total 141 yards, 61 yac, and a long of 21. Gay has been thrown on 13 times, while giving up 11 catches for a total of 175 yards, 71 yac and a long of 30. Keep in mind, Greer often covers the #1 receiver. He covered Rice and Fitz for the majority of the two games. Moreover, he outranks ALL playoff corners including Revis. (all per profootballfocus)

HAH. Finally some PROOF to brag to my brother that Greer > Revis (at least in the playoffs)

Put it this way, his production mirrors that of an elite CB. He just doesn't get any respect nationally, but opposing teams definitely take notice. The Cards and Vikes both started moving Fitz/Rice around more as the game progressed to get them away from Greer. Greer followed Rice for a good portion last game (especially in the 2nd half), but generally he stays on the left side. You just can't overemphasize what an effect a true shutdown corner can have on a defense as a whole. Greer's #'s in the regular season were excellent as well (gave up 1 td all year and that was on a blatant push off by R. White), but the injury kept him out of the pro bowl (and nat'l spotlight) IMO.

Considering how our defense has been over the past few years giving up huge passing plays I think this is a very underrated FA pickup.

Yasinkas said Greer was the best FA pickup period this past offseason (even ahead of Sharper). His rationale was that it's almost impossible to find a shutdown corner, and the Saints did just that. It's pretty remarkable they were able to get Greer AND Sharper considering how both of those guys have performed. Great job by Loomis and crew; definitely makes up for the Jason David debacle.

I agree with the premise, but the sample size is too small. All it tells is who has played the best during the playoffs.

Had he been healthy all season, I'd enjoy looking at his season totals. Time will tell.

The Greer stats are great, but those numbers concern me against Manning. Greer may shut Wayne down, but other than that

I am not too concerned with Reggie Wayne on Greer island but Dallas Clark will be hard to cover.

Halfway through the season (before he got hurt), he was ranked 2nd in coverage and in the top 5 overall. He was targeted 64 times in the regular season and only gave up 30 completions. The QB rating against him was 52. It's not just something he's done in the two playoffs game.

Watch out, that's a lifelong Saints fan you're talking to there.

Yes sir!

I agree Greer's great. Hence the phrase "I agree with your premise". My point was simply instead of posting stats from 2 games, use a bigger sample size to prove your point.

Well, I can't use a sample size that's any bigger because it's specifically for the playoffs, which you're obviously aware of. He was a stud in the regular season so it's not a surprise he's tearing it up in the playoffs. It's especially impressive because of the opponents. Hopefully there will be a much larger sample size to draw from in a few years.

He specifically says "here are some stats to show how dominant Greer is".

You cannot demonstrate how dominant he is with 2 games worth of stats.

His last post said that he only meant to show how dominant he's been in the playoffs. So, fine - good stats, no argument.

Get over me, baby. I'll break your heart.

How do Tracy's numbers compare to Greer's?

I'm surprised at how well hes recovered from his surgery...hes and Sharper were steals in the offseason.

Variances, sample size (even when numerically impossible)...dork.

I'm joking, but it's clear you want people to know of your mathematical prowess.
