It seems Mrs. Hunter is angered by the turn of events (Coach Willie Mack Garza's departure) and is said to have reopened her son's recruitment.

quote:

Per Hooker, Mrs Hunter is very upset at the departure of Willie Mack Garza to USC. The recruitment of the WR prospect is back open.
She said these kids are treated like commodities and that she suspects Garza new he was leaving all along.

They are supposedly now considering USC. So much for the distance angle, oh I mean excuse. Stay tuned.

For those who want to investigate further.

Let's just nab them all up. I really just want Fobbs in an LSU uni. Keep the Shreveport connection alive.

Let me get this straight. The Hunters are mad at coach Garza for not telling them he was leaving, so they decommit from UT. But now the kid is considering going to USC, the very school where the the dishonest coach is now working? Yep, that makes perfect sense.

That's what I was thinking.

Gloria Hunter said her son is now considering LSU, Florida, Alabama, USC and UT. She added that the coaches switching jobs so freely is “so sad.”

And so it continues, . . .

Oh, and Lane Kiffen himself is now recruiting Justin on behalf of USC.

Do you mean South Carolina?

Because if she's pissed about Garza leaving like a thief in the night... why would they want to follow him to USC?

Kids choosing a school because of an assistant coach is even sadder.

That might make some sense. Funny how when I see USC, I automatically think Southern Cal rather than South Carolina.

I would almost be willing to put my bottom dollar that Kiffy had Hunter as a silent the whole time at UT. When he left, Hunter didn't kow what to do. Kiffy had him commit to UT to cover some shite up fo rOgre. Wouldn't be at all surprising.

Maybe this will be the straw that broke the NCAA's/USC's back.

This situation is retarded and the way some of these guys handle their own recruiting is beyond my belief. They should not commit unless they are absolutely, positively sure they are going to that school. I know we are dealing with "kids" (im only 20 and dont personally use the word often) but they are expected at their age to make mature decisions. If i wasn't 100% sure i was going to a school (he was committed to LSU since last spring for god's sake) then i would not commit. They are taking scholarships from other people that want to be here.

My heart agrees with you, but in my head I know that it's all a big game. And these "kids" (I'm 27) are more likely being stupid and/or manipulated than actually pulling the strings. Parents, coaches, pastors, etc. are in their ear all the time. Say what you want, a 17 year old still defers to most adults. And when some of these adults are legitimate celebrities (as Kiffin, Saban, Carroll, Meyer, etc. are) they can have a great deal of influence. It pisses me off when a commit breaks his word, but all you can really do is hope that we pull some other team's 4-star.
