To divide the fan base on the eve of a playoff game, than bringing Deuce back?

who cares? the only fans that matter are the ones at the game, and they'll all be going apenuts, regardless of their internet forum position on deuce.

if you really think this is going to divide the fanbase, you are an idiot

divide? how so?

once it's clear he's an honorary captain it seems like there will be no divisiveness at all.

I'm going to do my best to try to sink to your level and let you know as concisely as possible that you are an idiot if you think this has "divided the fan base." Grow some thicker skin.

I believe there was no better way to start a clusterfrick the way the info leaked out.

No one is divided, I just think there is a lot of tension given the Saints stellar year, their lackluster finish and how long it's been since the last game. Fans are encouraged by the improved health of the team and the reports that the team is ready to kick arse. Then, the day before the game, the front office pulls this signing out of left field, incites some long held ferver about a former star, but yet raises question as to the reasons behind the signing that may point to shakier health status of the team than has been reported. People are just on edge right now and anything this big and unexpected was bound to cause an uproar.

Just my 2 cents.

This like arguing over whether missionary or doggy style is better. You many not be exactly thrilled with one or the other but you are still happy because you are getting some. People can argue over this but bottom line they will all be happy Duce is there Saturday night some just might not be thrilled.

Its only a clusterfrick among us obsessive fricks on a MB.

The "normal" fans are going nuts over it. My dad even called me all excited.

I like what one commenter on PFT said, that bringing Deuce back is like letting a retarded kid ride on a firetruck.

So in this analogy the fans are the retarded kid? That sounds about right.

The only this it might do is divide the fanbase back to what it used to be. The true fans that have been with the team through thick and thin and understand how important Deuce is to the team, then the bandwagoners that have no real idea.

We should be talking about the Cards, and 11 of 16 non-sticky threads on the front page are about Deuce McCallister

well, first off...the saints PR department gets a giant FAIL on this noe

and wwl (christian garrett) should have probably gotten a bit more info from the saints before breaking the story

the saints just fumblde here, no doubt about it

payton admits his plan was to bring him back as a captain (and this has been brewing for 3 weeks), when he made the deicion to release leslie and bring in deuce the saints should have sent out a press release with details and called a presser for later today

they really messed up on releasing this thing
