Greer the Saints X-Factor

quote:

New Orleans cornerback Jabari Greer. He could turn out to be the most important player on the field Saturday, despite having barely played in the second half of the regular season.

Greer missed seven weeks with a groin injury and returned to get a little tune-up in the regular-season finale against Carolina. But you can pretty much trace the overall decline in New Orleans’ defensive play to when Greer went down. Fellow starting cornerback Tracy Porter also was injured for much of the same time Greer was, and a secondary that was excellent for the first half of the season became very ordinary.

You can't hope to contain Arizona; you just need to keep up on offense, and the Saints offense is potent.

I've continuously said GW changed his play calling because of Greer being out. But you can't blame him. Thus the decline of Sharper's play in the second half of the season, by having to play more of a cover 2 role.

I'm excited to see the D's play, if Greer and Porter are fully healty enough to open up the play calling again.

Jabari Greer is going to have a Bob Sanders affect on this team IMO. I just hope we don't have to come back from a 21-3 deficit in this game like the Colts did that year.

shockey is the X-factor on O. I really, really, really hope he's healthy. he opens up so much (RBs and WRs) with his solid blocking; and then, just when you're happy you're not being knocked on your arse by him, he blows you up with a first-down catch over the middle. man, i hated that dude when he was in NY, but he's one of my favorite players now, and a better player. the injury bug just sucks and that isn't going to get any better, obviously, with age. just get us to miami!
