Citrus Bowl CEO Email re: Field Conditions

I sent an email yesterday to Steve Hogan CEO of Florida Citrus Sports. He just responded:
Thank you for your note and concern. I can assure you that the stadium crew has done everything possible to ensure the best field possible for tomorrow’s game. In fact, they have basically “lived” in the stadium since late Tuesday night. We are well aware of the level of teams playing in the game as we have staged a bowl game every year since 1947 including a partnership with the SEC and Big Ten for the better part of the last 20 years. I truly can’t remember a time over the past 20 years that there has ever been a question about the playing surface and we are disappointed it has become an issue this year. The entire field was replaced in mid December after the state championships, as it has been the past several years, in an effort to provide a field commensurate with the level of talent participating in our prestigious game. That being said, rest assured the stadium crew has worked tirelessly over the past several days to provide a good playing field.
I hope you enjoy the game and thank you for your concern.
Sincerely,
Steve Hogan

Pretty stand up of him. Acknowledging the problem and doing everything they can to fix/alleviate it.

I agree...didn't really expect a response.

I heard they are considering moving the game to Sunday in order for the field to dry. Anybody else hear this?

Field Turf needed if that many games are being played. It is great stuff

I just hope they can do something with that field...

I read they are renovating for next year and field turf is part of the plan.
The State High School games are what really pound it. Eight games in two weeks and then the Champs and CapOne, really take a toll.

Similar situation that Mobile had with all kinds of high school games all year, then GMAC started playing, and Senior Bowl in January. Have not heard of any field issues since the turf went in a couple years back.

I think he was making a observation that fandom has reached a new low by emailing about grass or lack thereof

It is important. Wet field affects play. But I wont use it as an excuse if we lose, and I think Miami wouldve lost regardless of the playing surface.

Plus you have to consider the safety of the players

You are probably right about Miami, but my main concern is the possibility of serious injury.

Isn't the Cooper kid from Miami out for 12 months from the injury he suffered at the end of the game? Dear football gods...please don't let this happen to us.
