So I got a package of 16-bean medley to make bean soup, but I'm not too crazy about the seasoning packet flavoring they include in the mix.
Suggestions for seasonings to add?
This is what I'm thinking about so far:
ham bone
onion
bell pepper
garlic
thyme

I like at least a nibble of meat with almost every bite, so I add tasso and smoked sausage to my beans, as well as the ham bone or something out of the freezer. Also, usually dice up a cayenne pepper for a hint of heat..
