I couldn't help but notice that the crowd at the SECCG seemed to be overwhelmingly pro-Bama. Why is it that when we play in ATL that we are so poorly represented as far as the number of fans we bring? We don't even have that big of a crowd advantage when we play in the Superdome. Both OU and OSU had almost as many fans as LSU in the 2003 and 2007 NC games. Were the Gumps somehow able to get their hands on more tickets than we did in the past?

alot of LSU fans sold their SECCG tix after the loss to arkansas, most selling to tennessee fans.

once word came out that LSU made the BCS title game, those same fans were the ones crying for tickets.

Yes, the gumps have easier access to tickets and probably started buying them months ago. We are very far away and our fans wait until we know we are going to Atlanta.

They have great fanbases and both of them travel well. Ohio State is a HUGE state for population and has a shite ton of fans.

THIS!

LSU had 2/3 of the Dome both games.

Well, for one, we are farther away from Atlanta than Alabama is.

Secondly, our alumni bases outside of LA are in TX (Houston and Dalls), while there are an arse-load of Bama grad's in Atlanta.

I was at both games as well, and it sure didn't seem that way to me. More like 60/40 LSU at the most.

it doesnt matter where the national championship is, both team's fans are going to pay whatever it takes to go.

Alabama is way closer to atlanta than UF is.

i was really impressed with the amount of tOSU fans in NO for the game tho. the days before the game bourbon looked 50/50 on the fans but it was a dam good time. at game time tho, all the red was in the dome

no matter where the game is, if youre a big fan base, youre going to buy your full allotment and then some for the national championship game.

the bama state line is just over an hour from Atlanta, the Florida state line is about 4-5 hours away. Thats a significant difference

no, they didn't. Also, OU had all season to buy their tickets and OSU has the largest alumni base in the country. We still had way more than both of them

You do realize that, if there is an 80,000 seat stadium, that school A and school B do not get 40,000 tickets each, right?

There's a reason why places like Stub-Hub exist.

So, yeah, if you're closer to the site, you're more apt to go to the game.

I lived in Atlanta for 15 years. I know how long it takes to get where.

I never said it was close, I just said it's not THAT far away.

When the SECCG was first introduced it was in Birmingham. This gave the gumps the opportunity to buy up as many reoccuring tickets as possible through local methods.

If anyone has ever gotten tickets from the SEC, you know once you get them it's like season tickets and you get them every year. Most Bama fans have kept the tickets over the years and just sell them when Bama doesn't make it.

Bama will always outnumber anyone they play in the SECCG because of this.

I share SECCG tickets with a UF fan, they are in his name and we get the rights every year. If UF makes it, he uses them, LSU I do. Neither and he sells them for cost. Luckly LSU has never played UF in the game

No, we didn't. It was 60/40 LSU at the most. And given the fact that Baton Rouge is only 70 miles from NOLA, I actually expected more LSU fans to be in the Dome. We had them outnumbered in the Quarter, but not so much inside the stadium. Anyway, I know that location proximity doesn't always guarantee an overwhelming home field advantage. I went to the Rose Bowl in 2005 when Texas played USC, and the Trojan fans were shocked at how many UT fans made the trip. The stadium was almost half burnt orange.
