1/2 game by the WAC for the hit on Terrance Tolliver

quote:

"A flagrant personal foul should have been called by the game officials, and Boyd should have been ejected from the game at that time," said Benson. "By NCAA rules, I am required to review these types of situations and it was determined that the player clearly committed a flagrant foul, and thus will be suspended."

SEC official: Clean hit

WAC conference commissioner: Flagrant hit, should have been ejected from the game and cannot play next week.

Great decision by the WAC Commissioner.

Would the presidents of the SEC schools please fire Mile Slive and hire that guy?

Look at that - a conference with some balls. Someone at the SEC should take note of how this is done.

Was there any word on whether JL was suspended for hanging TT out to dry?

One had the luxury of replay.

"I am disappointed in the decision and have voiced my respectful disagreement on the rule interpretation and penalty enforcement to the commissioner," said Louisiana Tech athletics director and head football coach Derek Dooley. "In the end, the decision is out of our control and our focus is entirely on the challenge that awaits us at Fresno State."

No doubt that Toliver was lit up on the play, but I'm not sure it warranted the kid being suspended. I was at the game and you could hear the helmets impact, but I don't think he "speared" him. Toliver is probably 6'4"ish and Boyd is 5'10". Of course he has to leave the ground to deliver a big hit on a man that size. Chad Jones does it all the time and Laron Landry did as well. A penalty should have been called, but I dont see where the LA Tech kid used malice like the Auburn lineman on Dorsey or Spikes used when he was poking out eyeballs.

Best view is at 30 second mark.
