Was reading about their plight to find quality non-conference foes. They are willing to play anyone from a BCS League without requiring a game back in Boise.

We share the same open date in our schedule right now - September 3, 2011.

Come on, Verge! Make it happen!!

LSU should play them and finally shut them up; however, I sense too much fear from the fan base. That's right, . . . fear.

We have no reason to "shut them up." It's simple, very little gain but a lot to lose.

It will never happen. The people who make our schedule would never get the balls to schedule a top mid-major along with a good BCS conf. team in the same year. It's always a lose/lose situation playing mids like Boise, BYU, Utah, etc

Yes. I have seen our schedule. We host Southern Miss on the week between Alabama and Ole Miss, and host West Virginia early in the season and also play Northwestern St.

In conference, we play at Tennessee and host Kentucky.

We can't schedule another FBS school, because we already play NSU. We should offset that weakness of schedule with a real non-conference opponent.

And if we are set up for a championship run, Boise Freaking State will just be a bug on the windshield. How could you possibly say that LSU should be afraid to play at home against even the best team from the WAC in fear of it damaging our championship hopes? Child, please.

Yeah, let's see LSU back up the BCS talk and take on the Broncos. We have to deal with them every season at Tech, and I watch a lot of Boise football and can say they're legitimately pretty damn good. I just wish they'd take on some more decent OOC opponents. In-conference, they really only show themselves against Hawaii, Fresno, Nevada, and sometimes Tech (when we're not terrible like this season). I think they're underrated and can whip quite a few "big-boy" teams. Hell, I'd REALLY like to see LSU get some balls about them and play IN Boise and try to win that one! Insane crowd, crazy blue field, very high elevation, cold climate... TALK about a ridiculous home field advantage they have!

I agree. LSU did schedule Fresno in 06, which was a top mid-major at the time.

why schedule Boise there is no benefit.
They beat us bye bye national championship chances we beat them they are a unranked non bcs school.

Frenso has never been a top mid-major. They just talk a lot of shite about playing "anyone, anywhere" only to lose and fail in conference every year.

I would rather this game on this date up in Boise. The road trip to Washington was awesome. That time of the year in Boise...stream fishing, leaves changing color...get to see the blue field. Gonna call Verge right now...hold on, I'll let you know what he said.

no coach wants to play on that stupid blue field. Boise pretty much cheats wearing all blue uniforms on the blue field. Also the stadium is not that big so not to many tickets out there.

They've never even won the confernce but they've knocked off a few really good teams, and almost beat USC the year before.

2011 schedule:

sept 3 - TBD
sept 10 - northwestern state
sept 17 - @ miss state
sept 24 - @ west va
oct 1 - kentucky
oct 8 - florida
oct 15 - @ tenn
oct 22 - auburn
oct 29 - open
nov 5 - @ bama
nov 12 - southern miss
nov 19 - @ ole miss
nov 26 - arkansas

I notice several things:

LSU plays 8 straight weeks to start the season... in that run they have two early road games (to miss state and west virginia)... later they have 3 straight tough games with florida at home, tenn on the road and auburn at home

You can argue this schedule is tough enough and I agree... but provided this is a home game and ESPN is going to really make it financially worth LSU's while to take a risk I see a return on taking that risk

LSU will have to grow up in a hurry that year with the early road trips and tough three game set in the middle of the season... given the week after the potential boise matchup is essentially a gimme week to make corrections I think might actually make sense for LSU to take the risk and play their first tough game at home instead of on the road

It makes about zero financial sense for a major school from the south to travel a couple thousand miles to play in a small stadium on the road

LSU should only be traveling long distances to play in big game venues against other major programs

not a matter of having the balls. CFB doesn't really award you for playing an overly tough OOC schedule...look at UF. Our schedule next year is fine as is

Lsu doesn't need to schedule anymore hard ooc teams that year the schedule is hard enough. I know everyone wants to see Lsu kick boises arse but it makes 0 sense to play them.

This is what's wrong with college football. All it does is keep the money in the same hands, and prevents us from seeing really interesting matchups. It's boring to see the same SEC teams play each other every year. It's ironic everyone will bitch that Boise doesn't play anybody, when these so-called "big teams" won't often play them as it is. Take a look at Alabama and how they have NO urge to play Tech at all. We have a winning record over them and slapped them twice in a row last time, so they have this weak "nothing to gain" attitude toward us. We need a playoff, because this BCS bullshite is ruining college football. With a playoff, LSU wouldn't be scared to play Boise.
