"calling somebody out" in a thread

What's the difference between bumping a thread to specifically call somebody out for something that they have posted and starting a new thread specifically to highlite something that somebody said?
I was chastised for the latter so I removed the post and RA'd for delete.
FWIW, i was not specifically calling out this poster. I just thought that, in hindsight, the quote was funny.

it was acceptable, they prob only deleted cause u erased nad typed "delete" then RA'ed it

I Ra'd and had that thread deleted because, as i stated in an earlier post, I'm not here to stir shite. I thought that it was funny and also thought that others(SJS included) would find it funny in hindsight. I saw how it was taken the other way and I removed it.

It's because there is no difference. And posters like Kafka got bent out of shape over something that clearly he has done himself. It's a double-standard and i find it funny.

Whatever, lpd. It just seems like that came from way out of left field.
If I ever find the posts where I recanted some of what I said about Payton I'll link it. It was toward the end of the preseason. I gave him props for firing his pal, establishing a run game and not bailing on it in the first quarter, and realizing Jason David was a mistake. I also appreciate him reducing Reggie's role.

To answer your question, when you start a thread calling someone out, it is obviously (to normal people anyway) more attention-grabbing than getting into it with someone inside a thread where posters not in the thread won't even know what took place.
Stop being a pussy and follow the rules or we'll bounce your arse right out of here.
