Seriously, am I watching different games than everyone ...

Stupidly, I am listening to Buddy Songy on the radio. I know that is my first mistake. He is a Miles basher and blames all of the offensive problems on the fact that he believes Miles is running the offense and running the ball up the middle on every first and second down. Of course, he just cut off a guy who was asking questions and blaming Crowton.
My question is this, I do not remember seeing LSU run the ball up the middle every first and second down. In fact, I was hoping they would actually line up in the I-form and run the ball on occasion on first and second down. What I have seen is scatter-brained playcalling out of different random formations. There isn't any flow or consistency. I haven't seen what I would classify as a Les Miles offense. Is everyone else seeing something different?

We've only run 6 plays all season

When I went back and watched the Florida game, I was surprised to find that our most effective runs (rare as they may have been) were up the middle between the tackles. We were awful at running the option and running outside.
There was one glaring exception to this general trend, which probably explains the perception of the general public.
On third and goal from the two, we ran up the middle and got stuffed. Fans will recall that.

The staff had no confindence in the O-Line. Fourth and one and we call a pass out of the shotgun which results in a sack. Please find me another premiere program that would call a shotgun/spread formation on fourth and one and actually attempt to throw a pass out of it.

Every team has crept the line and begged us to Throw deep and beat them. We just haven't yet. We will though.

How about 4th and 1 and actually throw a pass to the TE or Full Back...actually make the first down.

You may be right, but nonetheless, our best runs in the Florida game were between the tackles.

buddy is not a Miles basher. He is like many fans who can't see why Miles will not make adjustments that are painfully needed if LSU is to have a chance to win the SEC west and have a chance to win the conference and a chance to win another NCAA championship

The problem is they don't run it enough. Scott gets 6 yards a touch out of the single back and the shotgun. Why not run him out of those formations. Give up on the I unless its keiland running and scott at fb. Dugas is shite.
Crowton is the problem not miles

I don't think I've heard Songy make a recommendation regarding football that is worth repeating. Now, he's taste in spicy sausage is a different story altogether.

We have a bad O-line and a Bad QB. Playcalling doesnt matter. Bill Walsh or Sean Payton couldnt have beat Florida.

I agree, seeing that they played Florida tough seems to have changed the coaching staff's tone. I believe they see they can have a shot and will make the improvements they need for the stretch run ( from everything we are reading ). However, they are winning. It will be games like this all year giving us (LSU fans) heart attacks. Until the guard, center, guard and dt's improve we will continue to struggle to win.. Ill take it, if it means we in pasadena

We have two underdeveloped and undercoached QBs.

Dugas doesn't play much, Stampley's been the main FB. But I agree, if we're gonna run I, either do it with Chuck and KW or use it for PA passing.

quote:He is also like many fans that have no idea what they are talking about and just repeat things they've heard in the past. You hear criticism that apparently equates to Miles running too simple of a Big 10 offense that is, at the same time, far too complex for a young QB.

So which is it? Is it too simple or too complex. People just spout things they heard from someone else that was said three years ago. Then they get a radio show and sell Manda fine meats.

How about these Kyle Prater and Kellen Theriot moving to get a quicker FB in those wholes..Remember Quinn Johnson was a bulked up hitting machine that was a converted LB..Atleast, those guys will get a chance to play
