I understand what can happen when you bench your starting QB midway thru the season. It creates division on your team and can undermine the confidence you have built in your young QB.

HOWEVER, I beleive serious consideration should be given to Lee.

I will be willing to give Jefferson one more half against Auburn. Coming off a bye week and 2 weeks to prepare the offense SHOULD look improved. If we go to the half looking like the same ole offense it is time to make a change.

2 reasons why: At the very least it may light a fire under Jefferson a$$ and show him the job is NOT his when he plays terribly. 2nd Lee has the talent to spark the offense. If he doesnt come off the bench last year against Auburn and Troy, we lose both those games.

There is no question that the offense was better last year with Lee despite the mistakes. Lee set several freshman passing records(or came close) so we know he has the talent. I am at least curious to see how his decision making has improved, with this being his 3rd year in the program.

Give Lee last years defense and we win 10 games.

Oh and for those who say we are 5-1 with this guy can save it. Jefferson hasnt won one of those games. He may get credit being the starter, but those wins are not BECAUSE of him.

Finally, a side rant. If Miles doesnt replace Jefferson with Lee, I hope he does it with Sheppard for the same 2 reasons listed above 1. a Spark 2. The talent

I cannot stand hearing how they are waiting for the "right time" to put him in so as to limit his mistakes. I dont know about the other ranters, but I liked it better when Miles gave his players a chance to fail, and they came thru anyway like pretty much every gutsy call in 2007.

I don't think you are wrong at all...I think the point is that this topic has been beaten to death for a while now and the other poster doesn't necessarily see your thoughts as original.

I don't disagree that JL deserves some playing time, but you rats are trying to drown JJ who is a 19 year kid with All American potential. I'm still concerned that JL will throw 7 pick 6's and 16 interceptions if we give him too much time on the field.

Potential really doesn't amount to shite 95% of the time.

Unless you don't have anyone to develop that potential then it really doesn't make a shite either way.

How do you know that? All I would like to see is just a shot. I'm not saying to play the guy the rest of the year. Put him in and see how the offense responds. Pretty simple to me.

It appears to me that because of the Lee fiasco last year Les is horrified to open this offense up. Crowton has shown his hand in past years and past coaching stints so we know he has the playbook. Now let loose of some of these prized recruits and let them play ball!! Mistakes will be made. I would rather make mistakes and score 30+ points per game than the offensive philisophy we have now.

And ,for the record, I am not one of the Miles bashers. But I am starting to see similarities in him and another coach whose last name starts with Dinardo. He can keep on with this bullheaded "I'm gonna do this my way" if he wants to. He is the coach. But he may be opening the door that's gonna hit him in the arse on his way out of here.

Just sayin.....

IF JARRETT LEE STARTS ANOTHER GAME THE REST OF HIS CAREER, WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE!!!!!
JEFFERSON HAS NOT COST US A SINGLE GAME YET BY MAKING MISTAKES. WATCHED THE GAME ON REPLAY AGAIN YESTERDAY, PLAYCALLING WAS AWEFUL! AND I'M NOT A GUY WHO BANGS ON COACHES MUCH EITHER

Umm, not sure if i'm understanding this correctly. Didn't Lee have last years defense, last year, and he won 7 games.

JL has a great touch on the deep ball...specially to the sidelines.
With JJ not being a deep threat and the opponents knowing it, we could either bring JL, WHEN THERE IS NO NEED to pass and use his threat as a decoy, or let him play a few plays where the opponent does not know when he may go deep.

what we do not need to do, is bring him in JUST to throw deep..we do not need to telegraph our intentions.

the kid has guts and he has ability..

nothing to do with JJ

easy to blame JL, to make yourself feel right...
JL did not loose the games by himself.
Receivers dropped a lot of timely passes and the D failed us as well.
Not to mention that it is the coach's fault to ask someone to do something that they are not yet ready for.

plenty of blame to go 'round
