In the first half, the O-line was unstoppable and he had all day to throw the ball.

The second half Georgia started blitzing more and the O-line wasn't holding up as well.

Jefferson's internal clock wasn't reset to less time in the pocket. He seemed to be about a second behind. Until his pocket presence caught up! I hope this gets better with experience.

Someone on radio had good observation, JJ is taking too many steps back and not moving up in the pocket in time. He is basically moving too far back right in line with where out blockers are pushing the Def rushers.

Yep but he still was playing like he had all day, he sure did in the first half,, seemed to take him a while to believe the pressure was going to get there quicker,, he was just taking off a half a sec too late and getting caught around one ankle,,,

the pocket looks really tight, too, fwiw. squished. pressed. living on borrowed time. the pocket made me nervous even when he got the ball away.

His pocket presence/awareness is severely lacking.

so he was actually behind the pocket?
or just to the side of it,, seems plausable,, and hard to step up into it from there,, what about pressure up the middle, was this an issue,

his pocket presence

Is fine, he has little time, but the real issue is the D knows EXACTLY where he will be throwing from, each racing to the same fricking spot....down after down.

No mixture of three step drops, even with big arse cushions, no roll outs, not a ton of play action, very few screens (what like 2 today) to slow the rush.

It has to be a DLINE dream.

OL did not help him much on a few of the sacks but Jefferson simply can't feel pressure and make throws when he needs to on half of his sacks.

I remember last year our sacks allowed went significantly up when Jefferson played.

LSU needs to roll JJ out, like they did against GT in the Chik Fil A bowl. Doesn't do too well in the pocket.

They need to work on that in practice, JJ will keep getting better, but today the OL were obviously 'sick' so amazing they did as good as they did...

I was getting pissed about the OL play during the game also; however, I kind of changed my opinion when three of the guards on the team were puking on the sideline. If they were really sick from something not football related(like conditioning) they should be cut some slack form fans and the coaches.

The kid needs more work He's a project.
He can improve significantly on running the option, and pocket presence.

well, obviously. That was the worst I've seen someone try to run the option in my life. Might as well had Kige doing that crap.

Where should he throw it? The defense repeatedly got pressure by rushing a mere 4 DL. You want him to force it into coverage? Check that - you want him to force it into coverage deep in his own territory? When it really mattered, he was adept in escaping the pass rush and turning a bum pass play into a 20+ yard rush.

And our interceptions went significantly down. Perhaps related to the fact that taking a sack is ultimately more favorable than throwing it up into coverage?
