Hypothetically speaking, if Leinart were to lead the Cards, what sort of numbers do you think he puts up? On par with Warner on a per game basis? I'm thinking along the lines of Matt Schaub on a per game basis.

I'm just not sold on Warner staying healthy all season. I've got Aaron Rodgers as my QB, and think it's better value to have Leinart on my bench, than some scrub QB like Eli Manning.

Eli Manning is serviceable in the right matchups

Eli has no recievers. Matt would still have Fitzgerald and boldin.

If Matt plays then sure, he'd be a more productive fantasy quarterback

But for the time being, why would you drop a good backup QB for one that doesn't start for his own team?

That's the dilemma. Eli is waiver wire fodder anyway. He's minimally better than other backup QBs (such as Flacco, Chad Pennington, etc - who are available). Why not stash away Leinart for, what I consider the inevitable, when Warner gets hurt; rather than wasting a space on Eli, when I can pick up another guy on waivers, whos just as good, for Rodger's bye week?

Think anybody will pick up Eli once you drop him? If so then your probably better off just holding on to him until the injury occurs. Or wait and see if any other F.A. QB will have a better match up, come Rodgers bye week.

He wouldn't come near Warner's production. They'd definitely run more if he was in there. That offense is predicated on quick decisions and accurate passes. He wouldn't be terrible b/c of the weapons, but there would be a significant drop off for sure.
