Hey i am sure it has been discussed but what is the scheme going into this year? I thought I heard Chavis prefers to keep all 3 linebackers on the field at all times which I guess eliminates the nickel back or we take out a defensive lineman. I am assuming you bring in harry coleman as an outside linebacker on passing downs.

I thought Harry Coleman had been moved to linebacker already.

I don't think we'll know for sure until the season starts. My understanding is the Coleman will be one of the starting 3 LB's (with Riley and Cutrera), not just on passing downs.

In contrast to last yr where the was mass subsitution on seemingly every play, it sounds like Chavis's approach is to keep his starting outfit on the field. However, I don't take that to mean there will never be a nickle/dime package.

My hope is that with Peterson and Hawkins/Eugene at CB, we'll be able to play more man defense which will allow us to be more agressive in the box.

Coleman and Riley will start outside. Cutrera will start inside. Sheppard will provide relief both outside and inside. Look for a 4 man rotation throughout the season.

Minter and Baker would be the next 2 in the mix.

Last year, there were 2 LB's on the field 50% of the time because of the spread offenses they saw and the dime and nickel packages. Coleman gives them a chance to play the base 3 LB's always.
