I've always like Favreau as an actor, but for some reason, I did not realize that he is the same Jon Favreau who directed Iron Man. I researched his career some and Favreau has basically come from nowhere and quietly had one of the more successful Hollywood careers over the last 10-15 years. He's been in some great movies: Rudy, Swingers (love this movie, he also was the screenwriter), The Break-up, I Love You Man, Very Bad Things (awesome movie), and many more. He's also been a pretty successful director; Elf grossed $220,443,451 worldwide and Iron Man made 585,133,287. He's also got Iron Man 2 coming out next year and he's supposed to be the executive producer for the upcoming Avengers film.
I just found it kind of interesting that he has sort of quietly done this well as an actor/director so far in his career.

He pretty much burst onto the scene with Swingers. That was his Clerks/She's Gotta' Have It.

The guys body must be like play-do. He can shape it anyway he wants. It has changed back and forth a lot over the years.
Rudy - Fat
Swingers - Skinny
Friends - Medium build
Replacements - Muscular
Break Up - Ridiculously fat

His role as "Gutter" in PCU with Jeremy Piven--going to get the beer, falling asleep, losing his way, and getting a ride from George Clinton!

Saw that episode the other day and I knew that clown sounded familiar

there is a scene in The Replacements where they are coming out of the tunnel or something and Jon Favreau does the Heisman pose for the camera, and I don't know why but that always totally fricking kills me. I split a gut laughing the first time I saw him do that.

He's just a solid guy, decent enough actor, competent behind the camera, just all around cool.

This is true, there have been times in the past when I didn't recognize him.
