I was watching NFL Live the other day and they were talking about the NFC South and they asked Mark Schlereth who he liked and he said the Carolina Panthers because they dont have any defensive or quarterback issues. WTF? Is having Matt Ryan or Drew Brees considered having quarterback problems? I was pretty astounded when I heard this. And as far as defense goes, havent both the Falcons and the Saints sured up their defenses? I wont even get started on Tampa when it comes to defense and quarterback issues.

i predict the panthers to finish first or tied for first myself.. so i'm not really surprised..

i don't think it is so much as comparing them to the other teams in the nfc south.. it's just they are known as a running team.. and since jake delhomme is possibly fully healthy again it can only get better for them..

Until the Saints prove on the field that their defense is improved I say they still have defensive issues.

The Panthers have QB issues.

Jake sucks - there were like 6 games last season where he had a QB rating of around 50.0 and then led 1 good drive at the end with a lucky bullshite pass to Smith or something to pull out the win.

IMO the Panthers had the luckiest season in the history of the NFL last year. Seriously, go do a search of all their box scores and you'll see what I mean. They were about 6-1 in close "toss up games". Many of which they were losing and needed a TD in the final seconds.

The Panthers could have just as easily been 6-10 as 11-5 or whatever the hell they wound up being. Total fluke.

+1

I'm holding reservation until they do it on the field instead of paper. I can cut and paste a ton of offseason articles from the last 5 years that say "the Saints have improved their defense in the offseason".

And as far as "on paper" is concerned the only real improvement they made is hiring Greg Williams. That's an awful lot of eggs to put into one basket.
