I don't care if he stays outside, as long as he defends. Most of the best wingers drift inside.

We should at least be thankful that Benny is starting and not DMB.

Feilhaber, Clark

the most crucial aspect of our lineup. they HAVE to play well today. I mean in terms of not being our name brand players. doing their job to retain a semblance of possession over the central mid. I think Clark/Kaka is perhaps the most important matchups. Which kind of makes you go "oh, frick" when you realize the disparity in skill level between the two.

Yeah, Clark is sound defensively but he has no offensive game. Hopefully his game is to just watch Kaka

And I think our ability to keep the ball is going to be what determines the outcome, we had about 47% possession against Spain. If we can keep the ball and not forcefrick it up the field like we did last time, we'll see a better result. Last game we played long ball and our midfield and our defense got too far apart, it allowed Kaka and Robinho to sit in that part of the field and just receive the ball. We cannot allow this to happen again.

There's a very good chance that he could be, Dempsey is our poor man's version of C. Ronaldo. He's good on the ball, quick with his touches, flops a lot, and is very dangerous anytime he's near the 18. We have to deal with him being a little bit of a headache because he's one of the few players we have that can score at any time.

Yeah but I like the creativity he brings in the middle, plus Davies can scare people with his speed.

the amazing/confounding thing is that, as professionals of the game, our players know this is incremental to a successful gameplan, yet somehow our strategy devolves into the longball. i don't know what it is, perhaps lack of experience to keep their heads cool and have confidence in their own abilities. it's god-damn annoying.

I think it's a combination of panic and Bob Bradley not being a very good teacher of the game.

dempsey creativity?

he loses the ball trying to dribble too much. i think him and jozy up top is our best forward duo and that would clear the way for freddy or torres or feilhaber to get starting minutes

he certainly shows it at Fulham. I would watch them on occasion just to see how he's doing. I think the difference is the understanding he has with Andrew Johnson and Danny Murphy, compared to that of his chemistry with Altidore (and now Charlie Davies). I don't think he's been in camp long enough to form up an innate understanding of how his forwards play, unlike the benefit of playing near one hundred games with a club team.

Over There, Over There
Send the word, send the word,
Over There
That the Yanks are coming,
The Yanks are coming,
The drums rum tumming everywhere
So prepare,
Say a Prayer
Send the word,
Send the word to beware
We'll be over, we're coming over.
And we won't be back till it's over over there!
