It seemed like the strikezone was tighter for Coleman last night than usual. I dodn't think the ump liked that tailing fastball coming off the corner and Coleman has been getting that pitch all season.

Ott however was money location wise.

Go tigers.

The ump was all over the place. He had a very tight strike zone to left handed batters outside. He was a little more generous to their inside ala Ott.

I think Coleman got frustrated and felt he had to make perfect pitches and then just left them up over the plate.

I dont think they called any of pitches balls that were actually strikes

I agree, but will not complain about it...they called Austin Wood's pitches low, but didn't give him the corners as much...Ott got the inside corners...just my observation

Coleman was off. The strike zone was very consistent for all pitchers from what I could tell.

i think it was fine for Coleman but at the same time Ruffin was getting a foot off of each side fo the plate plus eyeball high curves called strikes.

He might not have liked it for Coleman, but sure was giving it to Ott. That guy was money, and you could tell he realized he was going to get that call with the "pitch that Greg Maddux made famous" as Orel called it, and he exploited it on everyone he faced. Start it at the knees and let it tail back in to the zone...just baffled UT hitters those last few innings

Not sure if I'm the first Vol to say this on here, but GO Tigers

I didn't think it was unfair. I just felt like the late movement was making it hard for Gibbs to frame up. We'll see how they call tonights game. I'm guessing tight.

There were many times where the same pitch crossed the plate and was called a ball once and a strike the next time. That's frustrating.

Ruffin seemed to get the benefit of the doubt a hell of a lot more than Coleman did, but overall I think the ump sucked for both LSU and Texas. It's hard to believe that they couldn't get better umps than some of the ones they have here. Hopefully, we have one of the few good ones tonight.

Speaking of which, is there anywhere to see what umps did what games, and which one is going tonight?

Coleman was not sharp enough to "earn" that pitch. Ruffin was right there all night, and was getting the calls.

With that ump that was behind the plate last night, if the pitcher is around the strike zone, he with give the pitcher 6 inches off the outsider corner and if you hit the mit it is a strike.

I think the calls that the pitchers were getting had a lot to do with where the catcher was lining up. The Texas guy was lining up practically in the batters' box opposite the hitter, and his pitchers were getting the outside corner all night. We didn't start getting that pitch until Gibbs started lining up way out there, very late in the game.
