The announcers always talk about how Jared Mitchell is not a developed player. Did he not play in high school?

Nope. Apparently he has never seen a baseball before he got to Omaha.

i'm sure the fact that he's always played multiple sports throughout the year does have an effect. as opposed to most big time baseball prospects who do baseball year round and have done so for years.

He has been playing baseball for as long as the other guys on the team. I played against him when i was younger in USSSA ball. I don't understand why they have to say this all the time. The only reason they would have is that he also had to concentrate on football, but so did a bunch of our guys in high school. I'm willing to bet at least half of our players were football players as well and a bunch were even quaterbacks.

I understand that, but to say he is unpolished is an incorrect statement in my opinion. Since he and chad jones play baseball does that make them unpolished football players?

No but they have an adjustment period... I can tell you the baseball players I know in high school they played both but their focus was baseball.

So even during football season they were at batting cages. Mitchell/Jones being so good at football probably put more focus and effort into it. Thus resulting in a delay when they come back to start working on baseball...

Hitting a 90 mph baseball is hard to do, I imagine its harder to do after not seeing one for 4-6 months out of year.

Also there is a body adjustment, I am sure. Teaching your body not to swing at pitches Working on bad habits that you can develop by not playing every day or practicing every day.

no because neither guy, until jared this year, missed any sort of football practice. they did however, skip out months of the baseball regular season
