My dad has has a horticulture degree, and does a bit of sports turf management. He said the southern cleat/clothing excuse is a cop out from the groundskeeper. He suspects that it's a huge fungus problem that can only be fixed by replacing the entire outfield turf. Also said that it could have been prevented if taken care of sooner.

Cool?

Remember when LSU had that big fungus problem for Baseball in 2006?

That was a fungus that resembled what many homeowners refer to as brown patch. It's a combination of thatch, moisture and when the temperature rises quickly over a short time period. That happened in the middle of May if i'm not mistaken.
