LSU always needs LBs, for obvious reasons.

OL - We took a pretty solid class last year with Stavion Lowe, Chris Faulk, Carneal Ainsworth and Josh Williford (project). While I think that we should be cherry picking some great talent and signing 2-4 OL, I would not really consider this a huge position of need.

DT - A position of need for every recruiting class. Depth at DT is a huge advantage for any team. Keeping fresh linemen rotating in is key to fourth quarter success. With the signing of Downs and Davenport last year, we have a solid base to build on. I think three DT's in this class would be appropriate, but if we were to only get two, it would be fine. We are loaded with big DE's that could rotate in and play some DT to help with depth, especially on passing downs.

CB - We desperately need a star CB in this class. Patrick Peterson is basically Jesus in cleats and I can't see him staying all four years. When he leaves, there is going to be a massive void left that needs to be filled. I'm hoping that Vinson signs with LSU and is all he is cracked up to be. I would look for 2-3 corners in this class. We can't afford to not have a stud to replace Peterson.

RB - The most obvious position of need. We are graduating two incredible talents from our backfield and have little depth behind them. Ridley is a good power runner, and assuming he can come back full strength from his injury, should see a good bit of playing time his senior season. We will also have Mike Ford coming in this year as an up the gut kind of back. His high school performance was incredible, but without seeing how that translates onto the college gridiron, we should not bank on it. Lache is an amazing athlete, but he will not fill our need for a power runner. Storm Johnson and Juwan Thompson would fit well in our offense and I would love to have both of them in P&G.

RB--someone needs to step it up next year (as in 2010). From what we've seen, Murphy cant be relied on (except to "wow" the crowd in spring games"). We need to sign a power runner this year. Lache would be a nice complement to that.

Ford (210 lbs) is a badass, not gonna lie. But we need a Power runner , ie. Scott(235lbs).

I'm gonna answer outside the box.

The biggest need for 2010 is a solid at LEAST 9-3 season.

I'll go with CB and RB for sure.

We appear to be loading up at DL, OL, WR, TE and LB in the 2009 and 2010 class.

I think that LB will be a need, but not the "biggest need".

Scott was 215 when he signed with LSU out of HS.

Ford will get bigger.

da frick?

Point is...you acted as though we don't have a younger power back after Scott.

Point is...we have Ford and Ridley that are both power backs behind Scott.

I also saw Scott play in HS. I'm glad you can tell the difference from 215 and 220 from the stands.

You're right on the money ROCKET32484 ...that's why LM & Co. recruited Dexter Pratt last year. His decommitment really screwed us. We will have to make up for it or we won't have that go to guy on 3rd or 4th and 1 or 2 yards.

Pratt is 6-2 227 4.48

Ford is 5-10 200 4.56

I would argue that if he puts on too much weight, it will slow him significantly.
A plus 6 foot frame is much better suited to carry 225 lbs+ than a 5-10 frame without a high chance of losing speed.

Justin Vincent lost top end speed and quickness his sophomore year after putting on too much weight under the weight lifting program and was noticeably slower compared to his freshman year. Vincent was 6 feet tall in 2002 according to Rivals & Scout.

A power back is our greatest need...one 6 feet or better.

RBs (Lache ), WRs (Trovon), and defensive players that fit Chavis' system. That means more speed at LB and DE than what Malveto recruited.

I agree, we need Lache for this class to be totally complete.

I've been relatively sober and overall grumpy for the last month or so. After my CFA exam on Saturday, look for late night drunken rampages again.

P.S. I'm always looking for a reason to drink beer at Chimes.
