Lane Mestepey's Plaque at the New Box

Sorry if Germans, but if anyone's interested, Lane Mestepey's plaque at the new Alex Box stadium has now been corrected to show that he was a pitcher (not a catcher).

Lane's a cool arse dude. We went to HS together before he transfered to Central private. Our boy Wes Eaton was equally as good in HS but he fricked up his shoulder. Im glad they fixed it.

I could see how a mistake was made when the shop who did them got the wrong info from whomever, but I just don't understand why it was put up then kept there for so long. It really was an insult but glad that everything is good now.

I hardly think a minor error was an insult to Lane. I'm sure he was very honored to have been selected as one of the players to have a plaque. Any person who would be 'insulted' by a simple mistake is an absolute moron and any LSU fan who saw it new what Lane's contribution to LSU Baseball was. A minor mistake on his plaque does nothing to reduce his contribution.
I'm glad its fixed for him now, though, just on principle.

I have no idea where they got the plaques made but I'm sure its possible they were done by some company not in Baton Rouge.

Lane is one of my all time fav Tigers. I played with and against him growing up in BR. Then the game that he threw against Tulane in the first game of the 2001 super reg was one of the best games a Tiger has ever thrown.

This is the LSUAD you're talking about. Ineptitude is rampant in that department. If people were doing their jobs, that plaque should have never made it up there with the mistake and then stayed up so long.
I sure hope Alleva has a low tolerance level for incompetence and makes a few needed changes, instead of keeping the dead weight around. Hopefully after he has been here a little while longer and sees first hand, he'll make a few personel moves and I'm not just talking because of the Mestepey plague thing. That's just one in a carton full of cracked eggs......

Yeah, it's not like we have one of the best overall athletic programs these days. All those frickers should be fired along with all those shitty coaches they hired.
I miss the old days when we had an AD like Joe Dean running a competent department.

not sure how they got that wrong in the first place but i'm glad they corrected it....somebody that's never even heard of Mestepey must have made the plaque....i think Lane would be proud to know that many ranters were appauled at the incorrectness of the plaque....
