he isnt pitching all that great in AAA , so no time soon, even thought the rays 4 & 5 starters are sucking balls ...tommy hanson will get called up before him

his performance is not dictating when he gets called up, its whatever the date is that allows this year to not count toward arbitration, same reason why wieters isnt up yet

This tactic is so baffling to me. Real, true-to-life pitching phenoms are so few and far between, and pitcher is typically the most frail, injury prone position on the field. Teams will begin to re-think this once a guy like Price or Hanson gets injured at the AAA level.

Except the reason he's there is so they can limit his innings to prevent injury. Too big of an inning jump from year to year is a huge precursor to arm injury and in Durham they can afford to send him out there for 3 innings just to get some work in, which would kill the bullpen if he was called up.

Price is only throwing about 4 innings an appearance, but still he threw almost 130 innings last year. It doesn't seem like asking him to go 150-180 this season would be too much of a task. You're not going to get better facing AAA competition.

As for Hanson at Gwinnett... 6 games, 32+ innings... = 5 1/3 innings per appearance. That's almost a quality start per game.

Price has a 4.62 ERA in Triple A this year... not exactly numbers you get called up for

lets face it, all these teams ( tommy hanson - braves, matt wieters - orioles and david price - rays ) could all use an injection of energy and just another stud on the team... they are only costing themselves games in the standings, as we speak. i'm a braves fan and to think jo-jo reyes is starting over hanson, has me pissed
