Some interesting news about chad jones:
quote:

“Chad has played great,” Mainieri said. “He’s got to prove to me for one more week that he’s really reliable, and we can count on him, but so far he’s been a model citizen.”

quote:

The eighth spot could be filled by Jones and senior outfielder Derek Helenihi would finish the lineup.

yep, hopefully he is our lockdown friday night guy. Supposedly our pitching has been shutting down our hitting which is pretty good to hear.

What do yall think of Gibbs batting cleanup?

I'm assuming if chad is getting in the lineup then he will be playing right field, and dean would be DHing? the article makes it sound like chad would be DHing with dean playing in the outfield?

Thats good to hear if it is interpreted the right way. It kinda makes you wonder whether we're not batting to good right now, or if the pitching staff is playing lights out.

The pitching is always ahead of the hitting early on. That article wasn't real clear but I assume Helenihi would be a 3rd with Jones in RF and Dean DH.

I think Gibbs will see a power surge this year. He'll hit at least 8 bombs

We know the lineup can hit because most of our starters return from last season, but we don't know if we can pitch. So obviously hearing that our pitching is doing so well is very encouraging.

the biggest wildcard in all of this to me is Ross, if he can be a good #2 behind Ranaudo, we'll be tough to beat.

Didn't LL bat leadoff last year? I think that is pretty much the same lineup we ended with last year except for the ones that graduated.
