One huge thing that sticks out to me about TJ is that he's not afraid to use a TO, regardless of the situation.
When Tn went on their run last night, he called at least 2 of them trying to calm his team down.
After 1 bad position, you could even see him hollering at his team to simply calm down.

This is one area where I see a huge difference.

With coaching, you got to have a plan for everything. Understanding when to use TOs, is just one more important facet of coaching. We have seen that poor clock management and not understanding momentum swings have done in a many coaches. The TOs definitely help to try to get those guys to refocus. It helped us finish the game on a strong note.

If he stays at LSU, I really feel Johnson will be a Billy Donovan level of Coach for us. All we have to do now is bring the talent in and just winning ballgames will do a lot of that for us IMO.

Bill King was saying this morning on Rivals radio that Trent Johnson is the best bench coach he can remember seeing at LSU. He said if he can recruit like the two previous coaches LSU will have something special.

Good coach but can he recruit big PFs and Cs?
No big people next year. BIG problem.

There are two 6'11 guys that are redshirting this season. They are no Big Babies, but it's not like Tasmin will be the tallest guy on the team.

They also have 1 4 star PF recruited for next year.I guess that will have to do, I wish they had one more if Taz goes pro.

He's not going pro. He would likely not get drafted or very late 2nd round at best.

He certainly proved capable at Stanford and Nevada, so I doubt he'll have much trouble at LSU. People just don't realize that major prospects have been recruited for YEARS and there is a lot of ground to make up when taking over at a major school like LSU. He's still trying to land a big man in the current class but it's tough given the stiff competition that have been on the recruits for a lot longer.

You do realize LSU has two 6'10 guys on the bench that will be eligible for next year? I'm not saying they are the answer, but there will be some height available. Green has a decent build, and they are trying to put weight on Harris.

Back to the original topic, I agree with your assessment on the timeout situation. Not to pile on Brady, but he would let a team really chip into a lead before calling a timeout. I'm not saying this is wrong, because Phil Jackson does the same thing and let's his players try to fight their way through adversity. Having said that, I prefer Johnson's style at the collegiate level. I forgot which game it was, but I remember TJ calling a timeout when the lead was cut down to 15. This is one area of the game that I believe Johnson handles very well.

I've only seen 2 LSU Basketball games this year but I'm extremely impressed.

I don't think Brady ever had any designed plays. It was obvious that we are much better offensively. That pick and roll on the Johnson dunk was awesome.

With that said, I was really almost yelling at the tv the last 10 minutes of the first half because no one was moving on the offensive end. No screens, nothing. I thought I was watching Brady's offense again then the guys seemed to finally get motivated in the 2nd half.
