A.C Milan proposes a 4.5 million euro transfer for Beckham from the L.A Galaxy.

What do you think about this? I mean i don't care about L.A or Milan but I think that Beckham leaving would be a bit of a blow to not just L.A but the MLS as a whole. Only since Beckham came to the MLS has it actually gotten any decent play on any major networks.

I read on Yahoo sports this morning that his wife is really against the move. She wants to stay in an English speaking country. I also thought I saw that he can go to Milan at the end of this year without a transfer fee being paid.

It will hurt the visibility of MLS a little bit but the Beckham experiment has lost steam. It was exciting at first but not too big a deal anymore in my mind. The next step for MLS having success is for the US National team to garner some excitement on the world stage. My opinion.

i think galaxy has to take it, beckham seems to be back in favor with fabio capello, so thats more time away with the english side
i think there is a good chance donovan gets an offer from Bayern, so there will be holes in the LA lineup. take the fees from both and just redo the team

he is with bayern munich right now, 5 goals in 4 exhibition games while bundesliga is on winter break. klinsman said he would like him on the roster when the 2nd half of the season starts

Just like Twellman, Donovan's best years, and best opportunity for massive improvement has past him, Twellman is good, he is very mls good, just like Donovan, but neither is (starting or playing regularly) Western/northern/southern europe good (spain, italy, england, germany, etc.)

one problem about what they did with beckham is that LA put noboy around him, he's calvin johnson of the galaxy (with exception to donovan), and they weren't winning, for the beckham rule to have flourish like they wanted to, i think he should have gone to NY Red Bulls, they had/have a better team and win games

needless to say, if he does go (which I think he does, to put him back in the spotlight, or first list of the National team, didn't have that with MLS) then the MLS will suffer a blow to their public image that they have tried to create and they won't recover for years and years

hopefully his wife wears the pants and says no...I hate AC milan

I think Donovan can play in Europe,as he has played exceedingly well in the exhibition games. I think his entire issue at BL was an attitude problem and not a lack of skill.

larger nations/clubs usually don't put in there best for exhibitions, or they don't play the entire game

I don't like Donovan, never have, at the 06 WC, I NEVER saw him give 100%, he was/is the golden boy of US soccer and everyone thinks hes the answer, but I didn't see him play like he was, I'm just happy that Adu got out while he did, he has a chance to reach his potential and at the same time realize that there is alot (ALOT) of people better than him, so he won't be a douche later

I do wish that US was a good place to go for soccer though

ETA: I remember just last year or the year before when Adu went to train with ManU and they said he'd sign with the academy at best, knocked him down a peg or two, since then he has really really matured on and off the field in Portugal
