When did the NCAA go back to having only one open date? I liked having that extra open date to dodge hurricanes.

USC had three this year- a lot of it has to do with our CCG.

I know this guy who planned his wedding for that open date. I dont think any of his friends will show if a hurricane messes that up.

I checked a few other SEC teams and we all have only one open date. We are starting the weekend after Labor Day instead of the Saturday before like we have the last few years.

Unless it has changed..it has to do with some jackass rule by the NCAA that has to be the number of Saturdays during a certain period. It only appeared after the 12 game schedule became a reality. At first, they were going to say you could only have 12 games on the certain years. Schools then said..ahh.noooo..this is good money. So on those screwed up years, rather than drop back to an 11 game schedule, they give up a bye weekend.
