So....I haven't really watched much TV in the last week between Thanksgiving travel, being bummed about the loss to Arkansas and work. That being said, I'm looking at the BCS rankings.

Alabama and Florida play for the SEC Championship on Saturday. If/when Florida beats Alabama, then Alabama will fall from #1, surely. So, they should drop below Florida even though they have the same record because Florida will have the deciding win, right?

Then, Oklahoma is playing Mizzou for the Big 12 Championship on Saturday. If Mizzou beats Oklahoma, will Oklahoma fall out of the picture?

That should leave Texas #1 and Florida #2 (or vice versa), right?

I guess what I'm saying is that one way or another, two of the 4 teams will be in the BCS Championship - Bama, Oklahoma, Tx, or Florida? There isn't a realistic scenario where USC or Utah could sneak in, is there?

Okay...discuss.... And thanks for the answers!

There's a chance that if Missouri wins, USC could sneak in. It would take a decent number of voters to find it heretical to allow a team (Texas) that failed to even win its division, let alone its conference, to play for the MNC over a team (USC) that had the same record, beat Ohio state 35-3 and actually won its conference.

A better question is whether Florida really will make it if they win. The computers HATE the SEC--thinks the conference is weak and Florida is really low. Beating Bama doesn't help that much. The Coaches and Harris voters will all have to vote Florida 1 or 2 or else we get a rematch of the Red River Shootout.

At least the Tellshow guy thinks it's plausible:

you think 2 teams from the same conference would be let in? especially with them already having played this year?

Appalling!

I would be appalled too but a decently respected BCS guru is saying it's a distinct possibility.

Okay, well, now I have to decide if I hate Bama more than I support the SEC... LOL

I don't know if I can stomach Bama as the national Champion. No matter what, they will have the big head after this year.

I'm pulling for Florida for what it's worth. If Florida wins, I personally think they will go. If not, the controversy will be amusing.

Yeah, I'm definitely pulling for Florida over Bama... but I will pray that Florida gets in when they beat down the Tide. I don't think I wanna see a repeat of the TX/OK game.

I don't necessarily like the Gators, but I at least respect that they are a good team. Better representative from the SEC than the Gumps.
