sitting behind the lsu bench yesterday, I observed a few things that troubled me:
1. There is no sense of team.
Never during the game did any player step up and hold other players accountable. Players body language looked laid back, no sense of urgency. No seniors making sure that their special day was "special".
2. Coaches were not fired up at all
Every coach when something happened would just shrug their shoulders and get the players to the bench and ask the what happened.
3. No one respects Lee
In the first quarter or so before he got hurt none of the wide receviers or offensive linemen would talk to him. When Jefferson came in everyone rallied around him, communicated with him. At no time did Lee or Jefferson talk about what each other saw.
4. There is no team unity
Everyone is out there for themselves esp on defense. No one is willing to pick the other guy up, no one is willing to go above and beyond what's expected.

It was gut wrenching watching what I saw yesterday. I hope that the team finds some sort of unifying moment that will bring the team closer or that some one take the bull by the horns and get this thing headed in the right direction.

Doesn't surprise me, the team has seemed very clique-y to me this year, you can't win if your team doesnt believe it is a team, you know. But why should they be any different than our fans who give up on the team and don't believe in them and have no respect for most of our players?

This team didn't have an identity...no leadership. Who are the team leaders? Can anyone answer that?

Jefferson asked Lee a question but I didnt hear it. Lee's response though was "what safety?"

We were right behind the bench at the Florida game and unbelievably saw one of the players, cant remember his name right now, pull his cell phone out of the front of his pants during the first quarter and shoot off a text. Everyone in our section saw this and couldnt believe it.

The team leaders were running through the tunnel last night to get their rose and greet their family members thinking "THANK GOD. I can finally go pro and abandon this sinking ship."

And I can't blame them either. Have you ever had a boss telling you to do something you knew was going to fail anyway? And the reason you did it was because he was your boss. But you had absolutely no passion or pride involved in what you did because you knew it wasn't going to work, and inevitably, it didn't.

Coaching

Eh. You can't make the players form team unity. It's not all on coaching. You have to hold the players accountable.

You are foolish....These kids are getting a free education and playing for what looked to be a continuous powerhouse and the pride of LSU. Fans only left because of what product they were watching stink up the field AGAINST TROY

And the original post makes me know that LM has lost his team and he is clueless on getting them back. These players should not act like the crowd acts...there are a lot of kids from La. on the Ole Miss team that did not get a schooly but helped whip our arse. LM does not speak the truth and always blabs about fixing shite that he does not know how. He could have at least a few games ago named ONE def. coord. and change him out after the season. No Balls and we thought he had a huge set.

There are NO team leaders. They all graduated last year. All Saban recruits.(Hester, Steltz, Dorsey, Sanders) Miles didn't have any adequate replacements waiting in the wings. Miles doesn't look at leadership qualities when he recruits, only 40 times. You see the results out there, especially on defense, where it's mass confusion and chaos. Fixable in the first game, but totally unacceptable at the end of the season. It's bad coaching/scheme problems/poor communicating what they want, combined with a lack of athlete brain power to understand and absorb it. It's not freaking Rocket Science, but the LB's and DB's are acting like it is.....

dude all im saying is that a team usually mirrors a fanbase and a fanbase mirrors a team, its a vicious circle, when 1s wheels fall off, the entire thing stops and is screwed, we shall see how things go but frankly, you can't blame the coaching for a team acting that way completely, I mean they're human, you're gonna click with some people, others not so much, so you can't force person A to become BFFs with Person B, you have to get them to be able to play together but to be able to have that essential chemistry that takes the players going the extra mile. You're likely not going to have a Freshman (either 1 of them) go up to a Senior saying we need to do this, SOOO its up to the older guy to do that

ETA: LaFell had it right last week, each group has to have a leader to go up to the guys and go look, we've got young guys at helm, let's go do our thing, expect the others to do their thing and we'll be fine

Yep. That's the way the defensive backs are playing. They know the system won't work.
