On the big play to WR Percy Harvin on the third play of the game...
“I would like to have had our safety over the top on that play. Danny (McCray) had responsibility for underneath coverage and was in great position on the play. Had he played the ball obviously a little bit better, he would have come down with it, but if he played the route a little more vertical, he would have come down with it. The truth of the matter is we would’ve liked to have had our free safety on top of that ball in position to make a play. It’s the style of play that certainly is a tremendous momentum swing for our opponent. Third down and 12, and instead of a pick or at least an incomplete pass, it’s a big touchdown. I told Danny he’s so close to making that play that it’s well within his grasp. That’s what I wanted him to understand.”

His assignment was underneath coverage. So SFP, and all the other haters ripping him for not being behind Harvin... suck it.

that is utter crap. an unacceptable and totally incomplete look at the whole McCray situation, which has persisted for over a year.

That's what Les says his assignment was but why did McCray start out on the right side of the field and end up down the left sideline running step for step with harvin? That is not underneath coverage, stupid.

You're right dawg, blanket coverage underneath the receiver is not underneath coverage.

If it was an underneath zone coverage, then why the frick was McCray on the wrong side of the field. Miles bullshits everything he says and publicly covers up for his players asses, I hate that shite.

The fact is that McCray had awesome coverage on one of the fastest WR's in the nation and being with him step for step, he merely mis-timed his jump and couldnt get the ball. Still I would think that there shouldve been some help over the top for him, which is what Miles said was supposed to happen. Great coverage on that play, yet shitty results. Its football

a truly good coach sticks up for his players, no matter the level of play. from tee-ball on the playgrounds, to high school athletics, to college athletics, all the way to professional athletics. so stop complaining that we have a moral coach.

Traylor, I thought you had to graduate college to be a college football coach? Right now you are sounding stupid. STFU.

Oh yeah, and he had great underneath coverage, too... Dumbass

Raz,

The real travesty of the present situation is the disappearance of your avatar and sig pick.

McCray had him covered. He didn't need any help. Just intercept an underthrown ball. Not knocking him b/c teams pick on him all the time. He could have intercepted it but didn't happen. But shite does happen. I'm damn glad it's him and not me covering some of the fastest recievers in the country. Hang tough Danny.

Maybe the he played his assignment right, but what about the other ten td's he has given up. do think it was just dumb luck the harvin was matched on Mccray. The gators did their homework and found a way to exploit this biggest weakness on our team as far as pass coverage. Miles used to say he was out their for run support. 3rd and 12. not much chance of a run. what now

Every weak McCray gets beat. Becoming a pattern. He should not be playing man defense.

I didn't say that.

And if Tebow did not under throw the pass Harvin had McCray by five yards. I am not against McCray like some are but don't act like Miles doesn't bullshite fans and media about his players and injuries.

Isn't that what basically happens in Cover 2 Man?
