Or do the computers factor in rank at time of play???

Maybe Vandy is that good. They are ranked and beat both SC and OM - both are decent if not good teams.

rankings don't really matter that much anymore for us, its all about the games left on our schedule

No as long as Vandy keeps winning. If Vandy wins today then does not show up in the second half of the season it will not look as good.

we want an Auburn win. We don't play Vandy and Auburn will surely lose another game and put them completely out of the SEC west race. It helps our strength of schedule as well as looks like a more impressive win on our resume.

It looks bad, but has no affect on our place in the standings. This game is at Vandy too. This prolly wouldn't be happenen in Auburn

Yeah, I guess I thought that 2nd half theplainswomen would roll, but obviously not.

Game not over and all that, I just did not know if it came down to .001 points or whatever like it has often at the end, if an Auburn loss would matter - assuming Vandy tanks one or two.

IF Vandy somehow eked in to the SECCG, then it would help our computer ranking by not penalizing us for beating the same team twice, like if we were to play UGA or UF in the SECCG. We would have to beat UF and UGA for Vandy to even have the remotest chance, though.

LSU's job one is to get to Atlanta...

so every west division team that looses is a good thing, imo..

It dilutes our win. But I think there are a few more games to play before we need to worry about that.

Who's to say we don't play an undefeated Vandy in the SECCG?

Who cares? I don't know how many times this needs to be said before people will understand. You want ALL SEC West opponents to lose as many SEC games as possible to help LSU. Screw the rankings. We have to win the west and then the SECCG and then things will take care of themselves. You don't want any of you opponents in the SEC W sneaking into the SECCG by virtue of a tiebreaker. You want Auburn to lose, and Bama to lose as many SEC games as possible.

Agreed. Plus if LSU takes care of business, none of this other stuff will matter.

We beat Auburn, so assuming we do not lose to Bama (big assumption), we are a lock for West because of head-to-head rule given equal win-loss records.

This means we beat the rest of the west plus Bama.

East record does not mean anything.

Yes, but its fun watching em lose. And it's always good to see an underdog with a nice team.

SOS does matter b/c its calculated in the computer rankings which is 1/3 of the BCS total.

last yr VT's final record played a part in LSU getting points in the computer ranking. Also it helped to show LSU beating another team that was in the final regular season top 10.

I know an Aubie win helps us, but a Vanderbilt win would sure be a good cigar moment...wish I were there to pass out cigars to the commies.
