I don't have a clue what all that 11p stuff is, but I did have a yam 25 on my fairly heavy all weld hunting boat several years ago. But, if you're getting to 31,, in a well built boat, I wouldn't touch my prop. Even with an 11p thingymadoojy..

If you go to a larger pitched prop you will drop your RPM which will case you to have a slower top speed.

The only reason I would suggest going to a larger pitch prop is if the motor is hitting the rev limiter with the current 11 pitch you are running.

Also do you have a SS prop or the aluminum one

11p is the pitch....Dont know my RPMs but there is no over rev....runs smooth...contrary to popular belief....i have disproven the larger pitch lower rpms on every motor i have owned. I ran a 98 Nissan 25 on the same hull(99 model) as i have now 15x46 Express a VERY WELL built hull....currently I have a 2007....the nissan was purchased with a 1n 11 p power tech by DHPs recommendation, ran 33....went to 12 p later and ran 35 with no drop in RPM....I had a 98 evinride 25 cyl with a 12p ran 28 went to 13 p ran 30...i sent 3 props back to powertech last year on the evinrude every prop they said to use did opposite of what the paper said it would....they are running 14 p props on the new tohatsu 25 4 strokes and getting 34 mph....I never had a yamaha and just purchased it so just seeing what everyone else was getting out of them and what props....

31 mph is rolling. If it doesn't sound like its overreving or bogging, don't touch it

Ohhh, that's what 11p stood for. The cranium steel trap needs a shot of wd40 this morning.
If he's getting 31, heavy boat, 25 hp,, only reason I might change would be to go to power prop to ski behind the 25.

Going larger can help but without knowing your rpms it's really hard to say. The larger prop could give you more lift and handle loads better and it could have less prop slip than what you have now... But here again you need to know RPM's to understand how your 11p is running ...

And trust me if you over pitch your prop you will lose RPM.

Well, it's april now, try it again.

Seriously though, I do remember my yammy having a very small pisser hole,, always had to keep a piece of wire with me, while in backwater.

way over pitching for sure....i have never seen a decrease in 1 inch difference...or not enough decrease to change anything....also depends on boat and set up...

my yammi pisses WAY better than my Nissan did....but Nissan still the favorite motor i ever had...i was young in high school and beat the hell out of it never missed a beat.....sat for 4 years after i moved out....dad finally told me i could have it...clean gas 2 pulls right back on the water...i had a lot of work done to that motor to run what i was running...

Maybe on smaller motors it is less noticeable.

But I am currently fighting it with my 225 pro xs it doesn't like the 26p I am currently running. Having a hard time getting it to hit 5700 should be a lot closer to 6000 rpms to get everything out of the motor.

Will make a few more plate adjustments and if I can't get it dialed in I will be dropping down to a 25p

i dont run the big motors...i bet its not the pitch though on yours....i bet its the height and trim....i run my motors high ...to where they just start to bounce in the front and then just put all my weight in the front when im going to fish and its nice and smooth....easier to do with the little aluminum boats then the bass and bay boats

It might not be the weeds that's making it blow out. I had a prop on my 30 yamaha doin the same thing. It ended up being the rubber bushing slowly goin out. I would stop and reverse because I thought I ran over grass but knew I didnt. Gradually got worse till I figured it out. Luckily had a spare prop in the deck when it blew out for good!

Speed = [rpm ÷ gear ratio] X [pitch ÷ 1056]

This equation is the theoretical top speed of a propeller at a given RPM. This does not account for drag or prop slip.

I run two 2008 yamaha 25 2 strokes on two different hulls. On my skiff I get between 28 and 30 mph with two people, 6 gallons of fuel, and fly gear at 6000 rpm with a PT 11p cupped prop.

its not blowing out...the weeds bog it down bad.....last time i got up on plane and it was running about half speed...but didnt feel boggy.....lifted it up to clean on plane it went back in water and shot off as it should....fished a bit took off again same thing.....ran to open water fished took off no weeds no problem....its like the blade design just wont cut them...never had that issue with the old nissan
