I am on this board typing this for a friend. The other day he was changing the oil on his Yamaha 225 4 Stroke. When he removed the cap of the quart of oil he then removed the silver film over opening. Typically he just punches a hole, but this time he removed and set it inside the cap. He finished pouring and then recapped the quart forgetting the silver film was inside the cap. He then checked the oil and realized he needed a little more. Still forgetting the silver film fell into the quart he began pouring and all of a sudden the film came pouring out with the oil and into the motor. Any suggestions on what to do to retrieve the foreign object before ruining the motor? Is the only option to break down the motor?

He can try an oil extractor to pull the oil from the top. It might pull the foil out. Otherwise it might be expensive.

The only hope would be if the foil was magnetic. It'd end up stuck to the drain plug if so.

Otherwise it's going to take some creativity and luck but I would figure out some kind of way to get that SOB out without taking shite apart.
