When you buy a new vehicle, most come with an XM subscription for either 1 yr or 6 months. When that period is over they have an introductory 6 month subscription for less than $5 per month (minus taxes & fees). After that they send you the notice that you can re-up for 1 yr. at about $30 per month; I told them no, that I wanted the $5 per month; they countered with $20 per month for 1 yr.; I countered with the $5 per month or just cancel my subscription altogether.....I got the 6 months for $38.21 (that's everything....subscription, taxes & fees).

ETA: $29.94 (6 months) + $4.16 + $4.11

I call them every 6 months right before my renew date and tell them to give me the same $30 for 6 months or they can cancel. They take the bait everytime.

I bought a lifetime membership years ago. They probably don't still offer it, but it's a deal if they do.
