Desert Eagles have pretty much no practical purposes. I'll name a few of the impractical characteristics.

1. It is INSANELY heavy. I've fired both a 44 magnum and 50 AE version. They both weigh a few pounds.

2. The length of the cartridge makes the grip very long. Good luck getting someone with small hands to get a good grip on it.

3. Accessories are expensive.

4. For hunting, a magnum revolver makes more sense.

5. They are very unreliable. You can forget this being practical for self defense.

6. There's a reason you don't see military or LE using this thing.

But besides those facts, if you just want to get it for fun, no one here will get on you for that. Well, maybe if you get the gold-plated one.
