I once had a pellet stove installed in the basement of my rancher (in PA). Not much to it. Cut a hole through the siding and ran a double walled pipe above the eave.
We went straight up. I've known folks who have had issues with 90 degree bends in stove pipe. Stuff builds up there and catches fire if you don't clean regularly.
Love the pellet stove. Very efficient and will never get another wood burner.

I got a quote from fireplace specialties here in Shreveport and its was thousands of dollars to have installed post build.

I guess it depends on your house but we bought ours (20 years ago) from Victoria Lumber, dragged it in the house and installed. The difficult part was lining the holes for the pipe through the ceiling and roof. Once lined up, installation didn't take more than an hour an a half.
It was scary cutting that hole in the roof.

Their price included install, I'm not brave enough to take a sawzall to my roof.

I got a bat cave wood burning stove I'm looking to get rid of if you haven't bought one yet.

I don't know the answer to your question...but whatever you do, be damn sure you research the fire marshall codes that regulate that kind of thing...
