I have had a few Quantums in the past and they were decent, but not great.

I use mostly quantums. I have a few nice shimano's.

I fish a lot of the BPS reels. Extreme and Johnny Morris signature are two reels that I consider great.

I have heard a lot of names (silstar, pflueger, diawa, etc..) But I really don't know.

Absolutely, but I have anywhere from 8-12 baitcasters rigged and ready to use on board my boat, the Core is not economically feasible for me.
