I was browsing through a website that lists land for sale and I keep seeing these posts that have .4 acres or .64 acres in the middle of nowhere for a couple of hundred bucks. What's the deal? What use would that serve for someone?

Could be a camp site/skinning shed for the 100 acres of bottom land I hunt right up the road.

Here is a good example.

Looking at Google maps, it doesn't even seem like there is any land there. It looks like its part of the lake.

I was looking a while back. Lots of tiny lots of school board land for sale in really strange places. Donations?
Like this one https://www.doa.la.gov/osl/AMR/203014_AMR.pdf- .47 acres in the middle of Prairieville for $800.

*The original lands granted to Louisiana for the support of public schools, Section 16 of each township, are not managed by the state, but by each individual school district. Depending on how the districts have kept up with the lands, documentation of the lands is often inconsistent, and at times lost to history. While not all school districts still own land – a large percentage was sold in the late 1800s and early 1900s – total remaining acreage is difficult to calculate, as are annual revenues and distributions to the schools. Contact local school districts for more information.

Living in the city limits I would love to buy a cheap 1/2 acre of land out in the middle of nowhere within 15-20 minutes of the house that I could put a small shooting range on.

If its anywhere near a national forest then it makes a perfect deer camp/camper site.
