Can anyone give me the pros to using a disk over a tiller for foodplots? Ive used both and although a tiller is slower, you get an awesome seed bed and less weeds

The only real pro of disc over a tiller is speed/time invested. It's faster for covering more area in less time which is good for large plots on a working mans schedule

i use disks. Only because that's what was on the tractor when i started using it. My FIL has used disks on the farm for years and years behind that Massy tractor. Cant really help you on pros vs cons

I find tiller is faster but disc is cheaper.

We only disc every few years and then till the other years. Disc-ing, while helpful, makes the food plots to hard to walk across. We are lazy.

we use a tiller only because you cant get a tractor to our food plots without accessing the neighbors field. And he's an arse so we don't ask.

I use a disc mainly because it's already purchased

I think the OP was asking about a PTO driven tiller. That is certainly what I was talking about.

Yeah, but I find you have to run it over multiple times with the disc as opposed to once or twice with tiller to get the same effect

So you're not talking about a PTO tiller? What kind of tiller do you use?
