Let's say you've got a birdwatcher who's a retired Army Ranger. Doesn't own guns. Doesn't eat t-bones. Doesn't hunt. Has a US flag sticker on his Dodge Rebel. He spends no less than 50 hours a week in the woods. Is he an outdoorsman or not?

More outdoorsman than me. I have to have the excuse of killing something to get me out there. He just does it to watch.

All of the woodland critters besides the deer are gonna be confused as hell when they notice that corn isn't for them.

...that used to be an Army Ranger. He has more "outdoor" skills than anyone on this board, and he's probably a better shot, has stealth-like stalking abilities, and has more patience than a rock. He's an outdoorsman who birdwatches.

Ok, call it what you will, but you get my point.

He doesn't own a Yeti, so he can't win.

Does he tie his own flies?
Does he know the difference between a pin oak and any other kind of oak that isn't a live oak?

If he got caught in an avalanche while trekking in the mountains could he survive Bear Grylls style?
