Just bought a house recently. As soon as I get stuff situated I am going to get a 55 gallon.

It is very relaxing to just sit and watch them.

I have had them most of my life.

Good luck...

375gal south and Central American cichlids here...had over 20 at one point running...breeding, wet pets, growing out.

I like the silvers but if the asian Ones ever become legal I may have to change up the stock.

What size tank?

I used to have a 60 gallon. I loved it, but its a little bit of work. We had African Cichlids.

Used to have them. Did african cichlids once. Amazon mix tanks. Was raising generations of angels at one point. Got all crazy and did a discus tank once. Never did salt though. I miss being able to sit and look at them, but I don't miss the maintenance and if you ever experience a bad leak that you don't notice till you get home from work...

I don't have aquariums anymore.

I've got a 55 gallon with a red eared slider I accidentally hooked way back in the day.

I had one in high school. 29 gallon with the most badass oscar. I didn't even feed him store bought food, just crawfish and minnows from the ditch. He was a freaking killer.

Just a heads up.. Petco is having a dollar per gallon tank sale from March 30-April 12. The biggest they have is 55 gallon.. So if you're looking at getting one you could pick one up for $55

Just got rid of my 40 gal cichlid tank. Kept numerous African and S. American species in relative harmony for the last 10 years.

About to take a 55 gal and go salt water. Probably gonna waste a ton of money getting it right.

Oh well...love having fish to look at in my home.

<---75 gallon.

I had a bad case of fin rot go through my tank, and when I treated it what the fin rot didn't kill I basically finished off by being impatient and overdosing them with malchite green.

Long story short, I completely tore it down, bleached the whole thing, and flushed it with tap water a couple times. I refilled it for a third time and let it run a week or so before conditioning the water. Instead of spending money on fish, (I wanted Oscars), I went and caught a small bass and through him in there as a test run to make sure the disease was gone.

It's been a few months, he has now made a home for himself...
