I have a rifle, maybe a handgun to part with. Where/how does anyone do that these days?

Used to be, you could post a classified ad in the newspaper.

Used to be, you could even post on social media.

How does that work now?

Sold a rifle on the Louisiana sportsman classifieds.

Also post what you are trying to sell and ask for an estimate of what it worth.

I'm not in Louisiana, and I know what it's worth.

Best way is a group text to about ten buddies. It won’t make it past lunch if it’s a fair deal. It may get forwarded 3 times but you will sell it.

You post what you have and ask how much it is worth here and make an email that is your user name @ gmail and things go from there.

MeWe. Download the app, go to groups. Look for hunting and sportsman. Then scroll through the communities. There are probably 20 for Louisiana alone, not to mention Mississippi, Texas and Arkansas. Way better than LA Sportsman or Bayou Shooter.

As posted above, post a pic on fb of a random gun case and tell people to pm for details. I sold a gun 2 weeks ago in about 15 minutes just like that.

Also tell them not to comment on your post

Can't you go through a dealer and do a proper FFL transfer if you're selling to someone you don't know? That weapon is still in whomever's name that bought it.

I can't imagine anyone WANTING to go through a FFL if you don't have to.

There's no gun registry. If it worries you that much, write up a bill of sale and have him sign it, or something.

I've never sold a gun that I didn't regret.

I have a Rohm RG-14. I can't imagine regretting selling that thing.

I dont really want for any gun that I've sold. Sold em cause I either didn't like them or didn't need them, mostly the former

At the time, I didn't. Times have changed though, and I'd love to have a couple back.
