Will regular rem oil do? This is my first nickel Barrel gun. My dad has one of those nice gun cleaning kits someone bought him for his b day and he said there is oil in the kit for nickel.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think the actual oil really matters. The cleaner is what you need to be worried about

Yeah. Rem oil shouldn't be used for cleaning really. It is just an oil. Cleaning it requires a solvent

Saw one pick of stack of quarters with her butt, but I wouldn't have called a "cleaning" procedure.

What is it you're cleaning? You sure it's nickel? May want to check with a more reputable source then TD.

You don't want to use anything with ammonia in it, i.e. any copper solvents.

CLP should be fine. Gunscrubber will get all the powder residue off with the help of a tooth brush.

I'm sure a google search, looking for discussions, would help you find what you're looking for.

I agree about the ammonia solvents. I try not to get that crap on anything except the bore and even there sparingly.

Just cleaned my .38 colt cobra that's nickel with clp and chrome polish. It's a white paste that does an outstanding job and doesn't mess up the finish. I clean my golf clubs with it as well. Try it out.
