Maybe. I know they are known to only be in certain parts of Mexico. Things change. Animals find new lands, just like people.

The only thing that is tripping me up is that OP said it's from MS. The only animal that comes close to that description is a raccoon. There are no ocelots or coatis here.

If you say you saw one, then I'm not one to call you a liar. Maybe someone will catch them on trail cams.

Only thing I can think of is a ringtail cat. But in Miss?

The furthest north I knew of them was just below Houston. Last time I saw one was in the early 1970's just outside of Sealy, TX.

Here's a vid of one in Austin LINK

I suppose the OP could be talking about ocelots, but ring-tailed cats are far more common.

From your link:

The ringtail is said to be easily tamed, and can make an affectionate pet and effective mouser. Miners and settlers once kept pet ringtails to keep their cabins free of vermin; hence, the common name of "miner's cat"

That would be a pretty cool pet.

I hunted out around Big Lake and saw a long tailed spotted cat. It wasn't a big cat but bigger than a house cat.

I also saw ringtails around the Colorado river crossing the highway and one had been run over. I've talked to guys that have caught them in traps.
