Moved up to one of these bad boys when I got to be 4-5. This thread is awesome btw, making me remember the good old days.

I had some of those Johnson type reels when I was younger. Some made by Garcia. They were way better than Zebcos while they lasted.

Found a picture of my Zebco Hoss on the interweb. It was a 700

A badass Zebco One - had 20 lb test line on it with no drag. It could haul in some logs, couldn't break that line.

My first reel I remember was a zebco 202 but the first baitcaster I actually bought on my own was a Ryobi Vmag.
Ordered from Bass Pro Shops and when it came in it was tiny. Learned from that mistake and saved up for a Daiwa PT33P which was a hell of a reel. If it had infinite anti reverse it would have been perfect.

zebco 202...really was a piece of shite...thought I was stylin when I saved up enough money to get myself a zebco 33 (with all of that chrome)....

I still have 3 Ryobis. One in use, and the others in need of pawls.

Some Zebco one from the mid to late 70s.
The plastic part that went over the spool of line was dark green and had white lettering on it.

Mine is an Abu Garcia too. Mine is candy apple red though. I still have it, I think I got it when I was around 15 or so.
